In 1983 the ÖAMTC started its helicopter rescue services, the ÖAMTC-Flugrettung. It operates 22 emergency helicopters at 14 heliports and has flew more than 200.000 rescue operations in its existence. Partners of the ‘Flugrettung’ are the ambulance service company Wiener Rettung, the Austrian Mountain Rescue and the Red Cross in Austria.
