Austrian Official Honours Awarded in India

Austrian Ambassador Dr. Ferdinand Maultaschl awarded decoration to Dr. Kalyan S. SACHDEV,  Managing Director and CEO of Asia Medical Assistance (ASA) India.

 

Last January  the Austrian Ambassador in New Delhi, Dr. Ferdinand Maultaschl awarded the Austrian Decoration of Honour for Services to the Republic of Austria to the medical pioneer who is also medical officer of the Austrian Embassy, Dr. Kalyan S. Sachdev.

Dr. Kalyan S. Sachdev is Managing Director and CEO of Asia Medical Assistance (ASA) India, a part of the Privat Healthcare Group and a Preferred ARC Europe medical provider in the Asian region.

Dr. Sachdev, who studied medicine in Austria, is one of the pioneers of Indian medicine. His achievements include establishing the first specialist hospital for injuries of the spinal cord in India, which retains its position as the leader in this field of medicine, and he also founded the first emergency air ambulance service in his country – taking the Austrian system as a model. For more than 35 years, Dr. Sachdev has been demonstrating his attachment and ties to Austria in his work as medical officer of the Austrian Embassy in New Delhi. His medical services are an important pillar of the Embassy’s consular work – he helps Austrians in distress and medical need and was a great help in the alleviation work following various natural disasters, such as the tsunami in 2004 or the spring tide in Ladakh/Kashmir in 2010.

 The Austrian Ambassador in New Delhi also awarded the Austrian Cross of Honour for Science and Art First Class to the prominent Indian literary scholar Professor Anil Bhatti for his significant contribution to making Austrian literature known in India and for his leading role in deepening the relations in the intellectual sphere between India and Austria.
